Healthy Bolognese Sauce
Tip: Make gluten free lasagne using this sauce and layer it with sliced courgette.
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp oil
- 1 onion, peeled and finely chopped
- 1 carrot, peeled and grated
- 2 garlic cloves, peeled and minced
- 14oz minced beef
- 10.5oz tomato passata
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 beef stock cube
- 1/2 tsp fresh rosemary, finely chopped
- 1/2 tsp thyme, finely chopped
- 1 tsp parsley, finely chopped
- 1 tsp basil, finely chopped
Instructions
Step 1
Select SEAR/SAUTE and set temperature to MEDIUM. Press START/STOP and allow to preheat for 5 minutes.
Step 2
After preheating is complete, place the oil, onion, carrot, garlic and beef into the pot and sauté for 5 minutes.
Step 3
When beef begins to brown, add salt, pepper, stock cube, rosemary, thyme, parsley and tomato passata to the mix.
Step 4
Change the temperature to LOW and continue to sauté the sauce for additional 15 minutes stirring occasionally.
Step 5
Stir in the fresh basil and serve warm with steamed vegetables or over pasta.
