Robot Vacuum FAQs
How does a robot vacuum work?
Robot vacuums are small vacuum cleaners which automatically move around your home's floors and vacuum up dust and dirt, with an on-board dust cup to collect the debris. They can be operated by a smartphone app, or using buttons on the robot itself. There are also robots available which feature self-empty docks, so they can deposit the dirt in a larger bin and then carry on cleaning, and options with on-board water tanks for mopping your floors.
Can a robot vacuum replace a normal vacuum?
Robot vacuums are great for keeping floors clean and helping you stay on top of everyday cleaning, but you may find that you still need to deep clean with a full-size vacuum periodically. Robots will clean any accessible floor space and even underneath furniture (if the robot can fit), however they can't fit everywhere - sometimes you will need to move furniture to deep-clean behind it, and clean into narrow gaps that your robot can't fit into.
How to connect your robot vacuum to WiFi
To get set up online, search for SharkClean in the app store and download the app to your mobile device. Then, follow the steps outlined in the Wi-Fi setup instructions.
Please note Shark Robots use 2.4 GHz networks to connect. Typical home Wi-Fi networks support both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz.
Can a robot vacuum go over rugs?
Yes, Shark robots can easily climb over most thresholds, but if one is higher than 2.5cm, set up a no-go zone in the app to block it off - or, choose a Shark robot with NeverStuck Technology which actively lifts and lowers to manoeuvre over obstacles, across thresholds, and easily avoid getting stuck.
Can a robot vacuum clean stairs?
Robot vacuums can not clean stairs. Shark robots use cliff sensors to avoid stairs and other steep drops.
