What’s the difference between Shark FlexStyle IonCurl and original FlexStyle?
If you’re converted to curling your hair with air power, or love staying updated on the latest hair styling tech, the newly launched Shark FlexStyle IonCurl is sure to have caught your eye. But what makes it different to the original FlexStyle, and which should you choose?
What is the Shark FlexStyle IonCurl Hair Styler and Dryer?
IonCurl is FlexStyle’s curl-obsessed sibling.
Just like the original, it is an all-in-one hair dryer and styler that takes you from wet hair to slinky styles, with no heat damage. But this newcomer has a few extra party tricks…
Tired of curls that fall flat? IonCurl is our best curling FlexStyle, giving you bouncier, more defined curls* and reduced frizz*. That’s because our original Coanda curling tech has been turbo-charged with CoandaBoost Technology – a stronger force wrapping your hair around the curler barrel.
You can also enjoy smoother, shinier hair** with our most powerful FlexStyle yet with a built-in ionizer to pack the airflow with 200 million negative ions, for better frizz control and less static**.
If you’re all about prioritising your hair health, you’ll love the Scalp Shield mode designed to protect new hair growth from excessive heat. Finally, the AirSet button now lets you easily pause airflow mid-styling (perfect if you prefer to release each curl without the air blowing) and set your curls with just one touch.
What is original FlexStyle?
With a single twist, Shark FlexStyle rotates between a powerful hair dryer and a versatile air styling wand. It dries and styles at the same time, with no heat damage.

FlexStyle VS IonCurl: Which styler is best for me?
Both options are designed with all hair types in mind, so there’s no reason to base your choice on whether your hair is naturally straight, coily, curly or wavy. What’s more important is the style you’d like to achieve – due to it’s poweful airflow, IonCurl wraps hair more tightly around the curler barrel, giving bouncier, more defined curls* whereas FlexStyle gives you looser curls or beachy waves.
What does FlexStyle IonCurl come with?
FlexStyle IonCurl is available with a range of styling attachments. You can also build your own set by selecting any 3 accessories. Our iconic Coanda Curlers are available in 2 sizes (32mm for longer hair or creating bigger curls, 24mm for shorter hair or creating tighter curls).
Plus, there’s also a FrizzFighter High-Shine Polisher for sleek straight looks, Oval and Paddle Brushes to shape while you dry, a Styling Concentrator, and a Curl-Defining Diffuser specially for coily and curly hair.
Are the attachments interchangeable between FlexStyle and IonCurl?
All your original FlexStyle accessories work perfectly with IonCurl too.
Please note that Shark Glam accessories are not compatible with IonCurl, as they’ve got their own built-in heat + ceramic tech made specifically for Glam.
